History of The Grey Colt Black Horse

Originally a joint venture of two families the Coultons and the Grahams, hence the name, the store opened in the spring of '59. Ever since, we've been dressing women in unique clothing and accessories. Our initial store was located just above Isaly's in the historic block on Main Street. After three years, the decision was made to move to a street level location for easier access. We have remained in the same spot, directly across from the lovely Hudson Clocktower, next to Saywells ever since.

The store is decorated with antiques and lots of hand-made touches giving it a 'homey' essence. The well known bouquet of Jinny Ellis flowers painted on the front door, a well-worn wingchair and couch to sit in and enjoy the atmosphere, and lots of additional eye candy make the store extremely warm and inviting. We offer a selection of dresses, related separates, unique jackets, sweaters, T-shirts, accessories galore, and a tabletop of shoes. Our sales staff prides themselves on remembering your name, what you like, and items you already have in your wardrobe to ensure you receive the personal and individual attention you deserve when visiting The Grey Colt.
